Despite whatever your buddy was convinced of after a deep dive down a social media rabbit hole, CBS News has flat-out confirmed that Joe Rogan — our town's most famous podcaster-turned-Spotify-titan — is not being considered to slide into Anderson Cooper's chair on 60 Minutes.
The speculation apparently took on a life of its own online, the way these things tend to do. People were connecting dots that, turns out, weren't really dots at all. CBS made it pretty clear there's nothing to see here when it comes to Rogan and the legendary newsmagazine show.
Look, it's not hard to see why people ran with it. Rogan has one of the biggest media platforms on the planet, he's been rubbing elbows with everyone from politicians to scientists to comedians for years, and he literally lives right here in ATX. The man is undeniably a media force. But a 60 Minutes correspondent? That's a different animal altogether.
Anderson Cooper's departure from the show after decades is legitimately big TV news, and yeah, the replacement question is a real one worth watching. Just don't expect CBS to be sliding into Joe's DMs about it anytime soon. For now, Rogan's probably just fine doing his thing on Spotify, selling out arenas, and grabbing breakfast tacos somewhere on South Congress like the rest of us.
