What does ATX News cover?
What's happening in Austin, Texas — growth and development, business and tech, civic decisions at City Hall and the Capitol, and the music, food and culture of the city. It's written for people who already live here, not for newcomers being pitched on a move.
How often is the site updated?
New pieces go up regularly as news breaks, and the news archive holds hundreds of stories, newest first. The site was rebuilt in October 2026 as part of a network-wide refresh.
Where does the information come from?
We draw on local reporting, public agencies, company announcements and public records, and we name and link those sources on the pages that use them. Our sources page lists who we rely on, so you can check the work yourself.
Do you republish other outlets' rankings or roundups?
No. We write our own coverage in our own words. We cite and link other publications when we reference their reporting, but we never copy another outlet's lists, roundups or selections and re-emit them as our own.
Is the site free to read?
Yes — everything is free. No paywall, no mandatory signup, no pop-ups.
